The things Jamison says!

Jamison talks....A LOT! He also talks very loud. I try to remember everything he says because most of the time I am left in tears because it is so darn funny!
On Mondays and Wednesday I take Jamison to Mom and Dad's house so I can go to Zumba. Starting around 9:30 he is asking if it is time to go yet. He asks this about every hour or so. Finally around 4, I make sure Mom is up from her nap, and then we head down. As soon as we get in the door, Jamison looks at me and says, "Mom, you can leave now." Well, thanks!
So, on Wednesday after I picked him up around 7:45 ish, he asked if next time he could go and stay longer. I told him that we would have to see. Then he said, "Mom, I have a good idea. I can just have a sleepover with Grandma and Grandpa, and you and Dad can stay home and miss me!"
The next night when I dropped him off for his sleepover he said, "Mom, make sure you tell Daddy at dinner that you miss me!"

School, Mom, and Life

I am thrilled that summer is here. Well, technically it is still spring, but summer vacation is here! WOOT! I am extra excited about this summer because I am not taking any classes. None. I told Jamie that with all the health issues and stress our families went through these last 5 months, I need a break. Plus, there is a small chance a move is in our future, and I don't have to worry about assignments in case I am packing. So, my summer is going to be spent hanging out with a very cute 3-year-old at the pool, the library, and the lake.

We got some super good news again today! Your prayer's are all working, and I am very thankful!! Mom had a CT scan and bloodwork on Tuesday. She got home, and the hospital called. They said she needed to come back down to be admitted. She was stunned! She is feeling great. Her white cells were down again, so they wanted give her some new blood, and just watch over her. Well, the Dr.'s looked over her CT scan's and they look perfect...Praise the Lord for He is Good!! The Dr.'s have decided to go ahead and do some raditation just prevent the spread of this nasty disease. When the type of cancer Mom has spreads, 90% of the time, it will go to the brain, so the doctor's are going to stop that! Hopefully, she will be discharged today, and we can move on!!

I am LOVING spending my entire days with Jamison! He keeps me busy. Monday night I askede him, "Jamison, what are we going to do tomorrow?" He replied by telling me that we needed to clean. So Tuesday morning we got up and started cleaning. Around 10, I asked him if he wanted to go in and mop our bathroom floor. He actually asked if he could just sit down and watch a cartoon. Of course I told him that he could sit down. After all, he is only 3. When I started to walk in to mop the floor he ran after me and told me he wanted to do it. At first I questioned if I worked him to hard, but then I don't force him. He is wanting to help clean, and he actually enjoys it. I do realize that in a few years, it won't be this easy!

In less than one month Jamie and I are heading out for our vacation. We are going to wedding in Duck, NC. On the beach. Can't wait!! We are going to spend a few extra days in Virgina, just hanging out. I am hoping to go see a lighthouse, some old plantation houses, and maybe even an old Navy ship! I think Jamie is most excited about eating some fresh seafood and sushi...yucko!

A tad bit of everything...

I would like to start by saying I have no clue why there are so many spaces between paragraphs or pictures. I tried to fix them!

Finally, Mom has finished her chemo! Oh, what a joy! The downside at the moment is that she was admitted into the hospital yesterday. After her chemo treatment on Tuesday, she just became so sick. She went in and some bloodwork done, and they realized her potassium was low, so to be safe they admitted her. I, unfortunately have not been able to see her. A little girl in my classroom has been sick for two days, so I have been exposed to something I don't want to be giving my mom. So what next? The healing begins! Mom will have CT scans every three months for the first year, and then every 6 months after that. She will also begin a training program to gain her muscle and strength back.

This past Sunday, Hunter Jacob was Baptized. Jamie is his Godfather, and Kristen and I are the Godmother. We were so honored to be given this role in Hunter's life. I personally view him as our little miracle because he showed up in our time of need. Talk about a breath of fresh air...this is one amazing little guy!

This week we meet with a new Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor for Jamison. This guy does not mess around. We go back in mid July, and if he still see's the need, then in August, Jamison will have a tube put in his left ear, some patch work done on the hole in his right ear (not patch the whole thing, just around the edges), and he will also take his adnoids out. Hopefully, taking out his adnoids will help with all those yucky allergies! Dr. Cossette said he could all of this now, but he is going to wait until August, so we can enjoy the summer doing this...

Overwhelmed

This week has been extremely overwhelming for me. Monday was just fine. I knew that Tuesday was going to be busy, but I could handle it. I went to work and then after work, I went back to Ellis to grab Jamison. He went to the playcenter at CHI while I worked out. At 5:30, after I was done working out, I took Jamison to the Hays Medical Center family Easter Egg Hunt. We were on our back to Ellis at 6:15 for a Preschool meeting at 7 when I called Dad to find out that Mom was being admitted into the hospital. Ugh! I dropped Jamison off at Arthurs with Whitey and Julie, and went to pick up Jamie for our meeting. After the meeting (which was great!) we headed home. I talked to Dad around 9, and he said they were thinking that Mom had a blood infection which is super, super common in chemo patients. I called in and took Wednesday off so I coud spend the day with Mom.

Wednesday, I got a call from brother that Megan was in the hospital and in labor! Yeah!! I got Jamison to Latisha's (thank Heavens for Latisha) around 8:45 and hung out with Mom until about 1:15. Then, I headed back home, to pick Jamison up only to head back to Hays for our dentist appointments. In the meantime, Cody calls and is wondering if Jamie and I are coming down to Colby. Well, heck ya we are! I can't wait to meet this little bundle of joy! I told him though, we still had to go to the dentist, so we probably won't make it in time for the birth. So, off Jamison and I go to the dentist. Between the two of us, we were there two hours. Nothing exciting there, just having our teeth cleaned and looked at plus they updated x-rays. I speed (not really) back to Ellis at 5:15 pack bags for all of us, and then Jamie and I drop Jamison and Cairo off at Whitey and Julie's. We didn't take Jamison to Colby with us because he is to young to even go into her room. At this point there is still no baby. Megan progressed VERY slowly! We make it to Colby around 7:15 or 7:30. Finally, at 12:15 a.m. Hunter Jacob Honas makes his way into the world. He weighed 7 pounds 1 ounce and was 20 inches long. He is perfect! It was love at first sight. Poor Megan had quite the labor and delivery. They had arrived at the hospital at 12:3o the morning before! We got back to Cody and Megan's house that night at 2 a.m.

Thursday morning we are back up at the hospital to spend time with the family before we head back to Ellis. We left around 11:30, and I was back up at the Hays hospital with Mom by 2. I was exhausted!

Friday (today) I literally just got the call from Dad that Mom is coming home! Her white blood cells are still pretty low, so we are asking that only family visits. We are not doing this to be mean, but to keep Mom safe and as healthy as possible! She only one more treatment left!!

Happy Easter everyone, and hopefully things calm down around here!

All Clear!

As most of you know, my mom was diagnosed with lung cancer on January 10th of this year. Yep, one day after my birthday. We were very stunned as cancer does not run on Mom's side of the family. We prepared to fight this awful thing with all of our might! Mom is currently undergoing her 5th round of chemo with one left. Today we got the wonderful news that there are NO visual signs of the cancer!! Wooo! Woot!!!! WOOOOHOOOO! Can you tell how excited I am? I actually cried when she called me at work today! I think she was pretty excited that Dr. Field was talking to her about what happens after all of her chemo treatments are done. Mom is going to be set up with a personal trainer or after my wonderful husbands advice, maybe some phyical therapy! She has lost a lot of strength and energy due to the chemo, and is more than ready to get it back! You know the saying, "when it rains it pours?" Well, on April 1st, Jamie's mom was diagnosed with breast cancer! She is currently waiting results from a 3rd lab to find out if it is indeed cancer like the first lab said or precancer like the 2nd lab said. Yes, I have been very stressed this year! I am talking more college hours than I have before (with this degree), but I actually find that very helpful...it takes my mind off of things for awhile! Last, but certainly not least, I want to thank each and everyone of you for your kind thoughts, well wishes, and many prayers! Keep them coming because they are working!! I feel the Good Lord standing beside us and know that He will take care of us! Miracles are performed everyday, and there is no reason my mom can't be one of them! (Crap picture, but I LOVE her!)

Gak...so much fun!

The Basic Gak Recipe

Use a measuring cup and follow the recipe exactly.
Glue mixture:
2 cups white glue
1 1/2 cups tap water

Soap mixture:
2 teaspoons borax (found in the laundry section of grocery store)
1 cup HOT water

Slowly add glue mixture to soap mixture. It will quickly coagulate and be a bit difficult to mix, but it will mix. Pour off excess water. Let stand for a few minutes and knead.
Poke it, pull it, roll it, scribble on it with markers, drape it over things, and cut it! It sticks to favric and rugs, but not to tables!

Buddy, A Baby Shower, and Funny Sayings

Last Saturday, Jamie and I took Jamison to Sternberg to see Buddy from Dinosaur Train. Jamison was so excited to meet Buddy, but when the time came, he had to have Daddy right there with him. This event was sponsored by PBS, and they even gave out pretty great goody bags. This time at Sternberg, Jamison would not walk by the T-Rex at all!

Yesterday was my sister-in-law's Baby Shower. It was attended my many friends and family of the mom to be. Megan and Cody now have all the items they need to bring home the baby in about 7 weeks! I am very excited, and can not wait to become an aunt again. Cody and Megan did not find out if they are having a boy or a girl, but personally I have my fingers crossed for a very healthy baby girl!

Last, I decided to start a section that includes some of the funny things my child says. Somedays, I am nearly brought to the floor laughing.

Jamison: "Daddy, don't I look good?"
Jamie (joking of course): "Um, no, you look ugly!"
Jamison: "Daddy! I look splendid!"
Seriously the kid is 3!

Yesterday, the boys were playing basketball in the living room. The ball accidently went downstairs. Jamison put his hands on his cheeks and said, "Oh, dear!" It was very cute!
