Overwhelmed

This week has been extremely overwhelming for me. Monday was just fine. I knew that Tuesday was going to be busy, but I could handle it. I went to work and then after work, I went back to Ellis to grab Jamison. He went to the playcenter at CHI while I worked out. At 5:30, after I was done working out, I took Jamison to the Hays Medical Center family Easter Egg Hunt. We were on our back to Ellis at 6:15 for a Preschool meeting at 7 when I called Dad to find out that Mom was being admitted into the hospital. Ugh! I dropped Jamison off at Arthurs with Whitey and Julie, and went to pick up Jamie for our meeting. After the meeting (which was great!) we headed home. I talked to Dad around 9, and he said they were thinking that Mom had a blood infection which is super, super common in chemo patients. I called in and took Wednesday off so I coud spend the day with Mom.

Wednesday, I got a call from brother that Megan was in the hospital and in labor! Yeah!! I got Jamison to Latisha's (thank Heavens for Latisha) around 8:45 and hung out with Mom until about 1:15. Then, I headed back home, to pick Jamison up only to head back to Hays for our dentist appointments. In the meantime, Cody calls and is wondering if Jamie and I are coming down to Colby. Well, heck ya we are! I can't wait to meet this little bundle of joy! I told him though, we still had to go to the dentist, so we probably won't make it in time for the birth. So, off Jamison and I go to the dentist. Between the two of us, we were there two hours. Nothing exciting there, just having our teeth cleaned and looked at plus they updated x-rays. I speed (not really) back to Ellis at 5:15 pack bags for all of us, and then Jamie and I drop Jamison and Cairo off at Whitey and Julie's. We didn't take Jamison to Colby with us because he is to young to even go into her room. At this point there is still no baby. Megan progressed VERY slowly! We make it to Colby around 7:15 or 7:30. Finally, at 12:15 a.m. Hunter Jacob Honas makes his way into the world. He weighed 7 pounds 1 ounce and was 20 inches long. He is perfect! It was love at first sight. Poor Megan had quite the labor and delivery. They had arrived at the hospital at 12:3o the morning before! We got back to Cody and Megan's house that night at 2 a.m.

Thursday morning we are back up at the hospital to spend time with the family before we head back to Ellis. We left around 11:30, and I was back up at the Hays hospital with Mom by 2. I was exhausted!

Friday (today) I literally just got the call from Dad that Mom is coming home! Her white blood cells are still pretty low, so we are asking that only family visits. We are not doing this to be mean, but to keep Mom safe and as healthy as possible! She only one more treatment left!!

Happy Easter everyone, and hopefully things calm down around here!

All Clear!

As most of you know, my mom was diagnosed with lung cancer on January 10th of this year. Yep, one day after my birthday. We were very stunned as cancer does not run on Mom's side of the family. We prepared to fight this awful thing with all of our might! Mom is currently undergoing her 5th round of chemo with one left. Today we got the wonderful news that there are NO visual signs of the cancer!! Wooo! Woot!!!! WOOOOHOOOO! Can you tell how excited I am? I actually cried when she called me at work today! I think she was pretty excited that Dr. Field was talking to her about what happens after all of her chemo treatments are done. Mom is going to be set up with a personal trainer or after my wonderful husbands advice, maybe some phyical therapy! She has lost a lot of strength and energy due to the chemo, and is more than ready to get it back! You know the saying, "when it rains it pours?" Well, on April 1st, Jamie's mom was diagnosed with breast cancer! She is currently waiting results from a 3rd lab to find out if it is indeed cancer like the first lab said or precancer like the 2nd lab said. Yes, I have been very stressed this year! I am talking more college hours than I have before (with this degree), but I actually find that very helpful...it takes my mind off of things for awhile! Last, but certainly not least, I want to thank each and everyone of you for your kind thoughts, well wishes, and many prayers! Keep them coming because they are working!! I feel the Good Lord standing beside us and know that He will take care of us! Miracles are performed everyday, and there is no reason my mom can't be one of them! (Crap picture, but I LOVE her!)
